Wanted - Editor for City and County
The Society is seeking a new volunteer Editor for its Journal with effect from December 2008.
It is not possible to say exactly what the job entails – there is some freedom involved and the Editor works in the way that suits him or her and the Society’s needs.
The Editor is not alone – we have an Editorial Group which meets once for each issue, regular contributors, a Secretary who keeps everything ticking over smoothly, a Proofreader, a Designer to do the layout and a Printer.
It would seem to be essential that the Editor should work with a computer and have a grasp of word processing and email. The acquisition of photographs seems to require some skill in this direction also. We normally use digital or digitised photographs from various sources. Some are taken especially for the Journal.
It may be that the task could be split between two people, one dealing with words, the other with images.
It is not essential that the Editor should be a member of the Society. The right person could be from a range of backgrounds. Interest and enthusiasm are clearly important. There is no time span attached to the post.
Expressions of interest or suggestions should go to the Society Office as soon as possible (0191-2816266 or by email).
